5 Best New Metal Albums Added May 2, 2024
Metal music enthusiasts may look forward to various new and interesting album releases that have quickly garnered popularity and landed on the Horns or Thorns charts. These albums wonderfully demonstrate the genre's originality and power, with a mix of hard riffs, growls, and solos that will appeal to both long-time metal fans and newcomers. The top five metal albums that debuted on the charts last week provide a unique and exciting listening experience for everyone who likes heavy music. With their superb musicianship and creative flair, these albums are a must-listen for any metal fan.
Full of Hell's newest album, Coagulated Bliss, debuted at number 53 on the chart. The album's refined sound varies from powerviolence to noise rock. Songs like "Vomiting Glass" and "Schizoid Rupture" mix new melodic elements with the band's brutal noise roots. The album, which features guest appearances by Ross Dolan (Immolation) and Jacob Bannon (Converge), highlights the band's exploration of structure and strange sounds. Coagulated Bliss' unusual grindcore sound incorporates gloom, drone, and pop punk to expose the real-life tragedies of small-town America.
At number 55, we have the first album in four years released by Amiensus, "Reclamation, Part 1." The progressive black metal band manages to establish a balance between harshness and beauty on this album, which features lush synth layers and a soft cello from session cellist Kakophonix. Members James Benson, Aaron McKinney, and Elise Holter each provide clean vocals on the album. The record is part of a double release, with Part 2 coming later this year to complete the musical adventure.
At the 75th spot, we find Inter Arma's fifth studio album, "New Heaven," released through Relapse Records on April 26. This is the band's heaviest release to date, with a discordant, sludgy sound, songs no longer than 7.5 minutes, and a tight 45 for the total runtime. The album explores terrible subjects such as apathy, addiction, and war, with vocalist Mike Paparo instilling empathy and compassion in his words. "New Heaven" represents the growth of the band's ideas, incorporating fresh elements and a deeper melodic side.
Nimbifer's debut album, "Der böse Geist," released on April 12, debuts at number 76 in the Horns Or Thorns chart. Their dynamic and explosive intensity, thunderous blast beats, and vicious and driven riffs may make "Der Böse Geist" the raw black metal record of 2024, building on their early demos.
Glassing's fourth album, "From the Other Side of the Mirror," is ranked 85th on the chart. The album showcases a wide range of styles, including post-metal, blackgaze, atmospheric sludge, and screamo. This variety offers an assortment of sounds, from harsh ferocity to delicate introspection, with thoughtful tones and heavy chords. The album's strengths include Glassing's bass, vocals, and drumming. Dustin Coffman delivers an amazing vocal performance, while Scott Osment displays his speed and mastery on the drums.
